Dating violence is defined as controlling, abusive, and aggressive behavior in a romantic relationship.  One in three adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner. It can happen in straight or gay relationships. It can include verbal, emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse. Through the help of Tina E from Voices Against Violence, Newfound Regional High School has been able to educate students on how to recognize the red flags of abusive relationships and how to safely set boundaries within all relationships.  Students are given tools and resources for self-care and taught skills for helping others through bystander intervention.  These presentations also address bullying and sexual harassment, with an emphasis on communication, consent and personal respect.  All lessons have been carefully designed to meet New Hampshire Health Education Standards and reinforce the lessons being taught through my curriculum.
